Dear Parents, Students, Administration, Faculty, and Staff

I am honored and excited to join the wonderful SIBS community as your new Headmaster. As I step into this role, I want to express my gratitude for the warm welcome I have received from everyone I have met thus far.

Please allow me to briefly introduce myself. My full name is Timothy Michael Traser, but my students usually just call me “Mr. T.” My father worked for the American government for nearly 30 years, so I grew up traveling around the world, going to elementary school in San Francisco, California, attending junior high school in Alaska, graduating from high school in Naples, Italy, earning my AA degree in Munich, Germany, receiving my BA degree from California State University, and getting my MA at Hamamatsu University in Shizuoka, Japan. Overall, Thailand is the 28th country in which I have lived, worked, and/or attended school – it is indeed a beautiful country with wonderful food, terrific beaches, a rich history and culture, and extremely friendly people. I can see why Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles.”

My previous experience as Head of School was in Shanghai, China. I was hired for that role because of my background in business, my consulting expertise, and as the published author of nearly 20 ESL books. I was able to leverage my classroom experience, business acumen, and expertise in the education industry to achieve great results at Shanghai DaTong High School. Of our 44 seniors, 42 went on to top 50 universities in the USA, Canada, and Australia. There is no reason to believe we cannot achieve the same results here at SIBS.

As an educator, I am passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that every child has the potential to succeed and do great things; as educators, it is our job to unlock that potential. I am committed to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. I have signed a long-term contract and look forward to employing and training a team of qualified teachers to build upon the strong foundation already established here at SIBS.

In SIBS, I see a school with a history of excellence. I also see a school poised to achieve even more by ensuring that WASC accreditation is achieved, by developing our career focused tracks in Secondary, and by improving upon academic results in the Cambridge International examinations. At SIBS, we will continue to enable students to fulfil their academic potential and develop essential life skills to become caring, honest and considerate global citizens.

I look at the pace of technological advancements like Chat-GPT and it is a reminder that our current students will soon be working at jobs that do not even exist yet. My vision and my goal here is to establish SIBS as the “go to” school for technological literacy. Our students will embrace technology, use it responsibly, and benefit from it. I believe that by working together, we can reach our goals, achieve our dreams, and make a positive impact on our school, our community, and beyond. I look forward to getting to know each one of you, and working together to ensure our students receive the best possible education and support.

Thank you very much for trusting all of us here at SIBS with your children’s education.

Timothy Michael Traser
