1. Visit our Admissions Office
Students holding other nationalities than Thai have to obtain an Education Visa while they are studying in the school.
Foreign students who do not hold Education Visa, the following are the documents required to apply for Education visa:
  1. Copy of student’s passport;
  2. Copy of parent’s passport;
  3. Copy of grade report;
  4. Copy of Birth Certificate of the student;
  5. Family Registration List;
  6. Copy of parent’s work permit;
  7. Current monthly income tax for the parent(s).
2. Submission of Application
Applications for admission to SBS International School Chiangmai are accepted at anytime during the academic year, which typically runs from mid August to early June.

The cut-off date for entry to each of year level is 1st of August . For example, a child must be 3 years old by August 1st of the current year to enter Nursery, and 6 by 1st of August of the current year to enter Year 2.

3. Admission Test and Interview
Once all the application requirements have been met and received by the Admissions Office, an admission interview will be made with the Principal or their designated person.

  • Placement testing and / or an observation period focusing on a student’s academic achievement and language proficiency, usually a full morning, is required and will be arranged at the same time as your admission interview.
4. Placement Offer/ Acceptance

When your application is successful, you will be sent a formal offer of a place for your child and a slip to confirm if you wish to take up the offer.

5. Official Registration

An information package will be provided to parents, containing all the essential details to support a smooth and positive start to your child’s journey at SBS. This package will also include a registration form specifying your child’s assigned teacher and student ID number. Please ensure that school uniforms are purchased from the School Shop before your child’s first day.

Class placements will be confirmed by the school one week before the academic year begins.

Intensive English Course (IEC)

The IEC is intended for students from Year 4 to 8 who require intensive English language support. This course provides focused and intensive English language instruction to accelerate language acquisition and prepare students for entry into mainstream classrooms.
